O-2 Black Tulip (CL)

Description

Black Tulip is an active, flowing low-fire glaze that breaks clear over texture and pools a greenish obsidian where thick. Because of its tendency to break and expose the clay body beneath, this glaze looks stunning over 67-M (Sedona) and over textured ware that has been painted with underglaze.

Top 5 Glazing Tips & Tricks

Glazing woes?? Have no fear - Amaco is here!! Follow along in our first Top 5 video where we guide you through our top tips and tricks when it comes to brushing glaze on your ceramic wares.

The sample pieces we show in Amaco ads and layering brochures aren't achieved by camera tricks or elaborate firing schedules, but simply by a uniform method for applying glazes and tracking results.

      Opalescent Glazes

Although AMACO® Opalescent Glazes may be used on any AMACO® clay, they develop their greatest opalescence and most interesting textures when applied over red burning AMACO® Sedona Red Clay No. 67. The AMACO® Opalescent Glazes have a high gloss finish when fired. Best results are achieved with three or four applications of glaze. On textured ware, the glaze flows thin on relief and thick in incised areas, giving an added dimension on the surface.

•Best over Red clay or colored Underglazes
      •Break and Pool Over Texture
      •Cone 05 - 1046°C (at 150°C/hour for the final 100°C of firing) / 1915°F ( at 270°F/hour in the final 200°F of firing)
