Silicas & Feldspathic Materials
Clay & Minerals Silica 45 (325 Mesh flint) -
Silica is the main glass former in ceramics. It is added to clay bodies and glaze recipes when the other materials do not add enough silica to the mix. The material is sold in two different meshes, 325 and 200 mesh. This product is 325 mesh which is typically used for glaze recipes. 50# bag; brown bag, #45 printed on side
$2.50 - $35.00
Clay & Minerals SIlica 90 (200mesh flint)
Silica is the main glass former in ceramics. It is added to clay bodies and glaze recipes when the other materials do not add enough silica to the mix. The material is sold in two different meshes, 325 and 200 mesh. This product is 200 mesh which is typically used for clay bodies. 50# bag; brown bag, #90 printed on side
$2.50 - $27.00
Clay & Minerals Silica Shot
Silica shot, also known as silica sand, can be used as an additive to clay bodies instead of grog or in addition to it. Silica shot will reduce the firing shrinkage and warping of a piece. AIt may also be used under pieces in a kiln on the shelf to help the pieces move as they are firing and helping to prevent cracking. Information gathered from Digitalfire Ceramic Materials Database and The Potter's Dictionary of Materials and Techniques by Frank Hamer. 100# bag; brown bag, Silica Shot written on many places

Clay & Minerals Minspar Feldspar (soda) 200 Mesh
Minspar Feldspar is a soda feldspar that replaced NC-4 and Kona F-4. As of right now, Minspar is not available due to the mine being impacted during Hurricane Helene. 50# bag, white bag, red text "Minspar 200" and "K-T Feldspar Corp"
$2.50 - $26.00
Clay & Minerals Nepheline Syenite A200 (200 mesh)
Nepheline Syenite is a powerful flux used in many clay bodies and glaze recipes. While it is similar to feldspar in chemistries, Nepheline Syenite contains no quartz. This material is so loved because of its white color it adds to clay bodies and for its use in low temperature clay bodies to increase their thermal expansion. Information gathered from Digitalfire Ceramic Materials Database.

Clay & Minerals Cornwall Stone
Also known as: Pegmatite. Graven. Gowen. Manx stone. Meldon stone. Growan. Petuntse. Amakusa.Cornwall Stone is a not a single material, but a mixture mined from igneous rock, making it a mix of different components including feldspar, quartz, kaolinite, mica, and a small amount of feldspar. Because of the material's kaolinite content, it responds well to flocculation and deflocculation in glaze slurries and will help glazes adhere to bisque, prior to firing. Cornwall Stone is primarily used as a flux in clay bodies and glazes. It is often used as a substitute for feldspar because it can introduce different alkalis into the glaze like potash, calcia, magnesia, and soda. Information gathered from Digitalfire Ceramic Materials Database and The Potter's Dictionary of Materials and Techniques by Frank Hamer.
$4.00 - $125.00
Clay & Minerals PV Clay (Plastic Vitrox)
PV Clay or Plastic Vitrox Clay is a mineral made of clay, mica, feldspar, and silica used in clay and glaze recipes. It has high silica content, casting proerties, low iron, long firing range, and low loss on ignition. This material will vitrify around cone 6 but turn white closer to cone 10. Its color and working properties have made people describe it as "nature's pure porcelain". Information gathered from Digitalfire Ceramic Materials Database The original 50# bag is light tan and says PRO-TECH (no markings to identify that it's PV Clay or Plastic Vitrox)
$2.50 - $44.50
Clay & Minerals FFF Silicon Carbide
Silicon Carbide is a refractory, artificial compound primarily used to make kiln furniture to due its hardness and ability to withstand high heat and thermal shock. The material can also be used in glaze and slip recipes to do local reduction in an oxidation firing and to make crater and foam glazes, due to the gas it releases in firing. Information gathered from Digitalfire Ceramic Materials Database and The Potter's Dictionary of Materials and Techniques by Frank Hamer.
