Series Information: EnviroColor Semi-Matte
EnviroColor Line Numbered 800-899

Colors of the natural environment, these glazes display a unique contrast of sheen and matte effects.  EnviroColor Glazes break into secondary colors, similar to Opulence Reduction Look Glazes

By Overlapping any Reduction Look 600 series over or under any EnviroColor Glaze, you can achieve nice flow and movement. If the EnviroColor Glaze is the top glaze in the combination, it will promote a more matte effect. We recommend that this overlap not be used too close to the bottom due to this nice flow.

You can create your own C/6 EnviroColor look glaze colors by mixing stains or raw colorants to: 810 Sandstone. Opulence Glazes are compatible and may be blended by volume or weight to create an infinite variety of colors, shades, and effects. Example: equal parts 852 Meadow and 856 Everglade to make a nice Blue/Green. Of course, we recommend testing any combination to assure good results.

Opulence Glazes are thicker than most glazes and are therefore more forgiving before fired. They can be rubbed, sanded, and scraped without adverse effects.

When purchased in dry form and mixed with water they can be dipped, poured, sprayed without the addition of deflocculants, or binders.  For brushing try our liquid pints.

All Opulence Glazes are Lead and Barium Free, Food Safe, Dishwasher Safe and Microwave Safe.

Although Opulence Glazes were designed for C/6 electric firing, customers have reported successful results in gas or wood kiln as well as at various temperatures and conditions. We do recommend thorough testing under your circumstances to assure good results.

Usage Information Use & Mixing Instructions

Mixing Instructions

Directions for Brushable Liquid

Brush 3-4 coats on C/06-04 bisque. For best results, use a soft brush. Brushable liquid glaze can be modified for dipping/pouring by adding 2 capfuls of water and shaking well before using. Allow to dry thoroughly before glaze firing to C/6.

Directions for Dry 5 lb and 25 lb quantity

For dipping and pouring, add dry glaze to water as specified below for each glaze line. Sieve through an 80 mesh screen. Recommended specific gravity 150-155.

Gloss Glazes

Numbered 100-599 MIXING DRY: 5 lb -mix with 4.5 lb of water /25 lb -mix with 22.5 lb of water. These colorful, glossy glazes show the best result with a slow, gradual dip. They are not prone to flow or move. Perfect for adding a base color when layering glazes.

EnviroColor Glazes

Numbered 800-899 MIXING DRY: 5 lb -mix with 4.5 lb of water / 25 lb -mix with 22.5 lb of water. Glazes in this group display a unique contrast of sheen and matte effect. Because of the chemical makeup of these glazes, it is very important that you stir between each application. When applied alone, these glazes are not prone to flow or move.

Reduction-Look Glazes

Numbered 600-699 MIXING DRY: 5 lb -mix with 4.5 lb of water / 25 lb -mix with 22.5 lb of water. Reduction Look glazes are formulated to mimic a gas or wood fired look and break into secondary colors. These glazes can be dipped at a slower pace and even benefit from an accented second dip (half way down the pot). All of the glazes in this group run the risk of flowing off the pot if two Reduction Look glazes are layered too closely to the bottom.

Translucent Glazes

Numbered 900-999 MIXING DRY: 5 lb -mix with 4.5 lb of water / 25 lb -mix with 22.5 lb of water. A lighter clay body best shows the colors of these glazes. A slower dip or double dip will result in a deeper effect, especially in textured areas. These glazes pair well when applied under other glazes from the Opulence Glaze lines.

Satin Matte Glazes

Numbered 700-799 MIXING DRY: 5 lb -mix with 4.5 lb of water / 25 lb -mix with 22.5 lb of water. The saturated color and a satin matte finish make these glazes stand out from the rest. Stiring these glazes between each application will ensure the best coverage. Although Opulence Satin Matte glazes fire beautifully at C/6, for a more matte effect, program the kiln to fire C/5 with a 30 minute hold.
