The Standard Green Mudwire is ergonomically designed to be a pleasure to use. The handle is made with a durable polymer and is shaped to give you a comfortable grip without having to wrap the wire around your fingers. The high grade stainless steel braided cable is more resistant to kinking than common cable or solid wire and stronger than nylon fishing line. This cut-off wire is suited for a standard 13 inch wheel-head and makes a clean cut. You’ll use it every day. (total length is approximate 15″ but may vary slightly) The Heavy Duty Black Mudwire is the big brother of the Standard Green general-use wire. The handle is made with a durable polymer and is shaped to give you a good grip without having to wrap the wire around your fingers. The high grade surgical stainless steel braided cable is more resistant to kinking than traditional cut-off wires. The black Mudwire is made with a heavier cable appropriate to use under heavier/larger pots and platters. Good for cutting big slabs off a block of clay. (total length is approximate 17″ but may vary slightly) Save your fingers! The Short Orange Mudwire is perfect for potters who work small. The handles are made with a durable polymer & ergonomically designed to give you a comfortable grip. The shortened wire eliminates the need to wrap inches of wire around your fingers. The wire is a high grade braided stainless steal cable which is stronger and more resistant to kinking than common cable, solid wire or fishing line. (wire is approximately 9″ but may vary slightly) When Michael Sherrill was just a wee pup of a potter he watched in awe as someone used the spring from a ball point pen as a pottery tool. Fast forward to Michael designing tools for potters and you have the Curly Pink Mudwire. This is more than just a cut-off tool. As you pull it through the clay it leaves a beautiful pattern. Use it for faceting and you get a surface that looks beautiful on wood-fired or salt-fired pots and under glazes that break (like celadon or temeku). Ideal for slicing and cutting lump clay, as well as trimming pots and other projects on the wheel. Hardwood 3" toggle handles are firmly fastened to approximately 18" of wire/line. The K35 wire is quality stainless steel while a high-strength braided nylon cord is used for the K36.
This tool has heavier handles and thicker, 36" long wire for cutting and trimming large bodies of clay. Comes in a heat sealed polybag. The more common cut-off wire is the K-35 cut-off wire.
The Mudcutter may be the most useful tool that you didn’t know you needed. It’s a wire tool with a handle. It can easily cut a plug of clay coming out of a 4 inch pug mill or cut a spout on an angle before attaching it the pot; it’s like an extra hand if you’re cutting clay off an extruder. Made with stainless steel and a comfortable polymer handle. Can be used with a straight or curly wire. Replacement wires are available in either straight or curly designs. The Mudcutter is slightly larger than the Carving Bow, thus the wires are specific for each tool.
