SunYoung Park

SunYoung Park (b. 1990, South Korea) is an interdisciplinary artist working across ceramics, drawing, and mixed media to explore hybridity, memory, and cultural identity. Growing up surrounded by traditional Korean ceramics and later relocating to the United States, she channels this cultural duality into sculptural forms that merge domestic and organic imagery. Clay becomes a living surface where softness and solidity, intimacy and tension, converge, often paired with fabric, rope, and botanical elements to evoke care, fragility, and transformation.
Her work has been featured internationally, including Alive & Unfolding: International Contemporary Ceramic Art Triennial in Andenne, Belgium, the Jingdezhen International Ceramic Biennale, Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. Park holds degrees from Hongik University (BFA, MFA) and Southern Illinois University Carbondale (MFA) and has been in residence at Clayarch Gimhae Museum, Charlotte Street Foundation, and the Wassaic Project. She is currently Artist in Residence at the Interdisciplinary Ceramic Research Center (ICRC) at the University of Kansas.
