Saturated color, dependability, and versatility make Velvets as popular for professionals as they are for children. Velvets fire true-to-color as a Cone 05/06 underglaze or fired to Cone 6. Some colors remain true as high as Cone 10. Try two finish possibilities: When left unglazed these colors have the rich textural appearance of velvet; when covered with AMACO Clear Transparent Matte or Clear Gloss they intensify in color. Can be easily applied to wet clay, greenware, or mature Cone 04 bisque (1971℉ / 1077℃) Saturated Color Apply to unfired clay or bisque True to color Can be used with or without glaze- Food Safe with proper glaze. Salt Buff is a tan to brown glaze with rivulets and runs like German salt-ware or wood-fire pottery. This glaze layers well with our other Potter's Choice glazes and can produce interesting color response.
Arctic Blue is a beautiful, opaque light blue that has a smooth, consistent surface and breaks tan over texture. This glaze lends very well to layering with other Potter's Choice glazes.
Smokey Merlot is a warm, dark purple glaze with a soft float of lilac over the surface. This glaze looks stunning on smooth surfaces, over textured surfaces, and layered with our other Potter's Choice glazes.
Oatmeal is a toasty, light yellow glaze that is relatively opaque and breaks clear over textured surfaces. This glaze is great for layering with other Potter's Choice glazes.
Dark green is a fluid, translucent emerald glaze that shows off textured and carved ware. Use over a wash of our High Fired Texturizer for added definition. Layers well with our other Potter's Choice glazes!
