Shared Shipping Opportunities

We are now offering a consolidated shipping opportunity for Omaha and Lincoln Potters.  There are several locations in the Omaha and Lincoln area that place large freight orders with us and are willing to allow area artists to place "piggyback" orders.  We have set up a special shipping method called "shared shipping" that will calculate  your portion of the shipping only.  In full transparency, the rate you should see includes a $20 flat rate consolidation fee plus a per pound charge of 15-20¢ (based on current conditions).  The flat rate fee covers everything from the (shared) pallet cost to staff labor, including separate packing of your order, markinhg it for the consolidated shipment, and communicating details, etc.  $7.50 of that fee is also credited to the shipping cost of the receiving location to offset any costs they incur.

As an example of the savings, a 200# clay order with our shared shipping option will cost $53.50  with the shared shipping.  FedEx, by comparison, calculated almost $305 to ship 4- 50# boxes of clay.   (That said, I have recently realized that it's CHEAPER to ship 2 -25# bags of clay than one 50# box with fedex - a 25# bag of clay ships for around $20, but even with that price reduction, the total shipping for 8 - 25# bags would be $200).

If you live in the area and would like to be notified of consolidated shipping opportunities, you need to do 2 things.  First, you have to subscribe to our marketing emails, because the notifications we send out utilize that platform.  (We typically send a single monthly communication on the first or second of the month to announce all of our sales and such.  Companies that send out daily or multi-times a week emails drive me crazy, so i refuse to do that.)  Second thing is you just need to email us and ask to be added to the Lincoln group or the Omaha group.  That will get you on the list to get emails and it will also enable your account to see the special shipping rates.

A few other notes/ FAQs about how this works

  1. The consolidation process takes some time, so shipping times will be delayed from anything you might see online, but we WILL communicate with you as much as possible.  We try to keep the window open for at least a week to allow people time to place their piggy back orders.
  2. At checkout, you don't NEED to put in the location for the shipment UNLESS your shipping address on file is WAY outside the region.  If your regular address is in Lincoln or Omaha or a close suburb, it likely won't matter.  And if you place your order with that shipping method, we will automatically place you with that shipment.
  3. Once the planned shipping date has been determined, you will get a "shipment scheduled" email to let you know when we are planning to ship everything.
  4. At the time of shipment, you will get an email that includes a photo of the shipment, the tracking number and the pickup location name & address plus any notes about picking up there.  Please pick up your orders in a timely manner and be respectful of the folks at that location.  :)
