AMACO Glazes AMACO Fitch Fan
This is the fan brush that is used in almost every AMACO glaze application video created in the last few years. These brushes have a flat ferrule and spread hairs which are made from very soft hair making them perfect for the application of glazes and underglazes. Useful for smoothing and blending colors, as well as adding textural effects.

Hovey Brushes Hovey Brushes
These brushes are all handmade from bamboo and deertail which is a soft, pliable hair, slightly wavy in texture. It produces a brush tip that has a lot of ‘air’, i.e., it will hold a great deal of material. This makes it great for potters (brushes made for watercolor or calligraphy tend to run dry too quickly when used with slips and glazes). The soft texture of the hair does cause the brush to be a bit floppy. While this takes some getting used to, I think you’ll find it works to your advantage since the brush will follow the compound curves of a pot more easily. Smallest size 3 brush when wet to show the tip Largest size 17 brush when wet to show the tip. Water line drawn at left.

AFTOSA Multi-Stem Hake Brush

The stems are joined together with two bamboo rods so you can break them into narrower brushes. They're made with soft natural hair bristles and they're cheap enough that discard when they start to look raggedy from use.
