Fired Shrinkage is 14.5% and Water Absorption is .5%
when fired to cone 5. Very black, ebony like finish. Contains no talc. Needs lots of oxygen during bisque firing. Please refer to this link for our bisque firing schedule that was created with Obsidian in mind.

It can be very expensive to ship just a couple of boxes of clay. UPS and FedEx charge a LOT for a 50# box of clay. It's almost always more than the cost of the clay, and can be more $50 per box. The cost per pound of clay goes down when you ship 500# or more via a freight company. If you can order with a friend or several friends (or art teacher where schools are concerned) you can both save quite a bit of money.
